Special Religious Education
Special Religious Education classes are taught by an authorised teacher appointed and employed by an association of local Christian churches to be at the school on a full-time basis. During SRE classes, students are encouraged to question and explore the message of the bible. Students who have opted into SRE will attend one lesson per week in Year 7 and one lesson per fortnight in Year 8.
Students will not be placed in a Special Religious Education (SRE) class unless this option is selected in the Online Enrolment System or the school is emailed with a request from parents/carers. The Department of Education Special Religious Education Policy can be found at https://cths.nsw.edu.au/information/documents-and-policies/school-based-policies/.
Opting into or out of these classes can be done at any time by emailing the school at cths@cths.nsw.edu.au. These classes are open to students of any religious background. The curriculum followed in these classes may be viewed or downloaded at thinkfaith.com.au.
Students who have not opted into SRE are provided with the opportunity to participate in supervised, self-directed study. This may be the completion of school assignments or homework, in-depth research into a school subject-related topic of their choice or wide reading.
